Christoph Bieber is a political scientist; in 2011 he accepted the Welker Foundation Professorship for “Ethics in Political Management and Society” at the NRW School of Governance at the University of Duisburg-Essen.
From 1990 to 1995 he studied Political Science and German Language Studies at Justus Liebig University Gießen and Freie Universität Berlin.
After that, he completed his doctoral thesis at the University of Gießen on “Political Projects on the Internet.” During his time as a research associate and an assistant at the Institute for Political Science (2001 to 2008), he helped launch and establish the Centre for Media and Interactivity (ZMI) in Gießen.
Christoph Bieber has researched and published work on the topics of ethics and responsibility in politics, transparency and public communication, as well as democracy and new media.
Since 2000 he has been a member of the Executive Board of politik-digital e.V., the sponsoring association for the online platform of the same name; from 2013 to 2017 he was a member of the WDR Broadcasting Council.
In 2016 Bieber was a guest in the “Vila Sul“ residency program offered by the Goethe Institute in Salvador-Bahia, Brazil.
