Working group to prepare a DFG priority programme on “Second sexual revolution? Shifts in sexuality in the digitalized world: phenomena, causes, effects”

» Main Research Topics

The aim of the working group is to develop a proposal to establish a DFG priority programme on “Second sexual revolution? Shifts in sexuality in the digitalized world: phenomena, causes, effects”. There is an enormous discrepancy between the academic and social significance that this area has, and the attention that the academic community has so far paid it. The priority programme would be breaking new ground both empirically and theoretically. The starting-point for the research programme are shifts in sexual activity in relation to digitalization, i.e. above all in relation to the prevalence of online media.

Two meetings were held to bring together the five people from different disciplines who applied for the priority programme. The group of participants was then expanded to include additional experts.

The joint work resulted in a 25-page proposal, which was submitted to the DFG on 15 October 2018.
