Digital Exclusion in Kenya

In the wake of the global Covid-19 pandemic, several human activities shifted online in what is largely called ‚the new normal‘.  The internet and digital technologies have, therefore, become an integral part of human life, enhancing this shift by enabling work, communication, learning, entertainment among other online activities and services  (Schejter, 2015; Warren, 2007). But with this rapid development and the proliferation of  digital technologies, its access has remained uneven. In Kenya, there exists a divide between those who have access to the digital resources and those who lack this access. This renders them digital excluded (OIS, 2013; Selwyn 2004).  To bridge the gap created between those excluded and those not,  this study will determine the extent of this disparity, its causes, social impacts and thereafter recommend solutions.
